Peter Davison has been orchestrating and composing scores for over two decades in Hollywood.

How did you get involved with "B: TAS"?

I was one of 2 orchestrators on "The Flash" for Warner Bros. on which Shirley Walker was the composer.

Do you have any memorable moment from your stint?

I enjoyed scoring the cues that I composed.

What did you think of the show?

A great show with lots of musical opportunities.

How come you didn't end up scoring more episodes?

At the time, I was asked to be the orchestrator on "SeaQuest".  From there I orchestrated in addition "Chicago Hope" and continued to score for a production company that produces documentary series for PBS.

What was the average scoring like and how much creative control did you have (since Walker was listed as the Music Supervisor most times)?

Shirley Walker told me which cues to score and gave me complete freedom, within the musical parameters of the show.

What were the musical parameters given?

The musical parameters were the compositional stylings up to that point.

What was the collaborative process like (assuming you collaborated with the other composer) and how did you both decide who gets what?

I did not collaborate on this project, I was given specific cues to compose.

For those unfamiliar with who you are, would you give us a little background.

I compose music for all sorts of projects, film, TV, DVD and CD as well as concert music.  I have taken scoring courses with Earle Hagen privately and also the BMI and ASCAP courses.  I taught at Dick Grove School of Music and had the opportunity of working with some great film/TVcomposers.  I received my BA and MA from CSU Northridge and have received grants in Composition from the NEA, Calif Arts Council, Foundation for New American Music and others

From your IMDB.com credits ir appears you don't work that often; is this by choice or are you for hire?

IMDB.com does not seem to include everything.  I have composed the scores for documentary series for PBS, having scored 18 series, almost 400 episodes.  I have scored many programs for History Channel, Bravo, A+E, etc.  I have also scored feature documentaries.  I have scored over 45 DVDs for the GAIAM label, the best selling Yoga/Relaxation/Life Style DVDs.  This label has released 7 CDs of my music and this year is releasing 3 more CDs of my music.

Can you tell us about any upcoming projects you have?

I am currently scoring "The Last Word" a feature documentary about Johnny Frank Garrett, wronglfully executed for rape and murder in Texas, those who accused him all died mysterious deaths shortly after the execution.  Over the next 3 years I will be scoring 10 more DVDs for the GAIAM Label.  I am recording the 3rd of 3 new CDs for GAIAM at this time.  Next Fall I will be scoring a 26 episode series for PBS dealing with social issues.

And lastly, if there are any comments you would like to make about your work on "B: TAS", or anything else, please feel free.

Great composers scoring for great musicians.
